549 AD St Columba, an Irish Saint preached the Word of God in the area
872 Saxon king, Alfred the Great, bequeathed Columtune and its lands to his son, Ethelward.
1020 The manor and lands of Cullompton, then known as Colitina, belonged to the Lady Gytha
1067 William the Conqueror passed through the 'villa' of Colitina, on his way to besiege Exeter
1278 Amicia, Countess of Devon, willed it to the Abbot and Convent of Buckland Monachorum
1278 Market was granted to Baldwin de Insula, Earl of Devon, to be held on Thursday
1356 (6 May) Water course was conferred on the town given by the Abbot of Buckland
1403 Work is said to have begun on the main aisle in the Parish Church
1527 Lane's Aisle was added to the main structure of St Andrew's Church
1545 Work on church Tower was begun (completed in 1549)
1603 Date on a panel in the Manor House
1645 (12 October) Sir Tomas Fairfax marched from Honiton to Cullompton
1688 (5 November) Prince of Orange landed at Brixham and marched to Cullompton
1725 Fire in the belfry in the church
1746 Thomas Bilbie moved to Cullompton and established a bell foundry
1815 William Pannell who moved the bell foundry to his house in the New Cut
1816 Two schoolrooms were built on the site of the car park in Gravel Walk
1839 Fire at the 'Boot Inn' opposite the end of New Street Some 260 cottages burnt.
1872 New school was built on the site of the Magistrate's Court at a cost of £2,315
1921 Cullompton United Charities was set up
1964 New Secondary Modern School was opened in September
