James' Page Print E-mail
Hi Ya,

My name is James Spink and I am 27 years old. In 1995 I was involved in a bad accident which has changed my life immensely. I have always had an interest in music and played in a couple of bands. On this site I intend to place some of my music which I have composed recently.

During Secondary School I was in to Rock Music and Heavy Metal and listened to many bands from Bon Jovi to Iron Maiden. I lived in black clothes, grew my hair long and did all the things teenagers should not do !

I was in 2 bands and played rhythm guitar generally covering our tracks.

My accident occurred in 1995 in the Blackdown Hills Near Taunton, Somerset. I spent 9 months in hospital and the next 8 years in rehab. My most serious injuries was to my skull which I cracked and my left eye in which I am now blind.

The injury to my head has left me with brain damage and ataxia. When I first came around from my coma I had forgotten almost everything. My first memories were song lyrics and music, ironically the first being the riff intro to “Somewhere in Time” by Iron Maiden! Slowly since then many other memories have returned.

I have now got my own place in Cullompton, Devon and play my electric guitar often. In certain cases rewriting songs, some expressing how I feel. I have also continued my passion for football and have weekly training sessions with an FA coach as well as attending the local gym.

I would like to say "Thank You" to all those that have helped me since the accident, their support has been fantastic.

With a lot of help I am now researching my family history, my own father came from Scotland and the area I am looking at is around Arbroath, so, if you have any connections with the area please contact me or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   who is helping me.

16th March 2006 - Update:-

My Holiday

On the 3rd of March I flew in to Bergen in Norway to have an unbeatable holiday.  It may be quite embarrassing but the only Norwegian I can still remember is the word ‘Hi!’ but my helper Dave Connor may remember more.

We spent just over a week on a cool (or should I say freezing) cruise starting in the South and heading in a Northerly direction through the fjords. On the cruise we learnt a lot about many snow white towns and saw the Northern Lights.

We went on various excursions, including a huski drawn sleigh ride over beautiful white hills, actually everything was white there! We also went to the most northern point in Europe towards the end of the cruise and yes just to add a point it was cold!

FOOTBALL

Tuesday 30th May 2006, was a very special day for me, I went to the England warm up match prior to the Full World cup matches.  We went off to Old Trafford, Manchester to see England play Hungary.

We were in the North stand and it was a great time, it was the first time I had been to a live England match, England won the game by 3 - 1 . This was a really wonderful time for me and I am looking forward to watching the rest of the world cup.
