Board Members

Gerard Edwards

4, High Street, Bradninch, EX54 NJ

I have been involved in a number of community groups and projects including most recently the Cullompton Area Development Initiative (CADI). I have the benefit of working with the community, local authorities and Government Agencies.

The Cullompton Regeneration Group had considerable success in that a high percentage of it’s programme was delivered and it achieved a shift in attitudes and culture on community matters. CADI has had the benefit of funding and other resources to start a new regeneration process which now needs delivery and development. The Development Trust will have status and the mechanisms to deliver in a business like way.

I have experience and skills which would be useful for the Board and a detailed knowledge of regeneration projects in the area. However it is important that the Gateway Development Trust develops its own culture and working style. Attractive as it may appear I do not wish to be part of rolling over of management from one organisation into another. I do however care that the tasks which CADI have identified and the projects which the Board are likely to be called upon to support are managed with an agenda which is set by the communities of the Culm Valley. In my opinion this would be best served if new but experienced members are given the opportunity to establish a dynamic and entrepreneurial management which the new structure should allow. For this reason I wish to limit my term on the Board to one year.

Jake Ferguson

6, Queen Square, Cullompton, EX15 1DB

For the last ten years of my career I have been a business woman in Devon and, as a champion of the region, I am proud to be a member of the Gateway Trust.

I am keen to offer my business experience to the Trust, together with my enthusiasm for expressing, promoting and demonstrating the wealth of potential in the region. My current, and most successful business, Think Tank Productions, is a specialist design agency promoting arts, culture and community in the South West. We enjoy a firm reputation for quality, service, values and passion – hallmark factors that are present in all of our productions.

I look forward to offering these skills to the Trust and of being of service in any way I can.

David Hunter

80, New Street, Cullompton, EX15 1HD

Being relatively new to the area, I have a fresh perspective on the potential of the Culm Valley. I want to be an active member of this community working to make it a better place for all. I have a strong desire to help the area achieve its potential.

As a young, local businessman I have energy and drive, backed up up by four years experience working in a large multinational company in London. During this time I worked as a programmer and project manager, skills which I am now putting to use in my own company. My company Beanbox Web Design has just completed the work on the new Cullompton Town website (www.cullompton.org). I would welcome the oppurtunity to use my skills and enthusiasm to the benefit of the Trust and the community as a whole.

Richard Maunder

Lloyd Maunder Ltd, Willand, Cullompton

I have worked at Lloyd Maunder Ltd for the last sixteen years and am currently employed as the Operations Director, responsible for over a thousand employees and the activities that take place on the Willand site.

Apart from university in Cardiff and a stint of working in London, I have always lived in the area, and like many have a close affinity for this wonderful part of the country.

Whilst being very busy at the day job and having a young family, I do feel that I would be able to offer an opinion and sound advice on the activities of the Trust and wish to it give my support in achieving its objectives.

Jimmy Sivlal

The Manor Hotel, 24 Fore Street, Cullompton EX15 1JL

I have been a businessman with diverse interests in Cullompton for many years and remain disappointed that it is not realising its full potential both in terms of the local economy and the facilities it offers the community. I think the Devon Gateway Trust can help change that.

I have a good knowledge of the local area and business and feel that my skills and experience can be of benefit to the Trust and help it achieve its potential.
